How we collect, use and protect your personal information, and the rights you have under UK data protection law.

Last updated: 8 September 2026.

1. Who we are

Jason Howard Photography ("we", "us", "our") provides wedding and portrait photography services. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Jason Howard is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

Contact: info@jasonhowardphotography.co.uk | 07766 257356

2. What information we collect

When you enquire about or book our services, we may collect:

  • Your name
  • Your contact details (email address, phone number, and postal address if provided)
  • Details about your wedding (date, venue, timings, and other information you share to help us plan the shoot)
  • Correspondence between us (emails, messages, call notes)
  • [If applicable: payment/billing details, taken via our payment provider]
  • [If applicable: names of other individuals you mention, e.g. partner, wedding party — see section 6]

We collect this information directly from you, mainly through the contact/enquiry form on our website and through follow-up email, phone, or video calls.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Respond to your enquiry and discuss your requirements
  • Plan, deliver, and follow up on your photography booking
  • Provide access to your photo gallery after your wedding
  • Keep records for accounting and legal purposes
  • [If applicable: send occasional updates or offers, only if you've agreed to this]

4. Our legal basis for using your information

Under UK GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Contract — where processing is necessary to provide the photography services you've booked.
  • Legitimate interests — to respond to enquiries and communicate with prospective clients before any contract is in place.
  • Consent — where we ask separately, for example for marketing emails or optional extras. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation — where we need to keep records, e.g. for tax purposes.

5. Who we share your information with

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted third parties who help us run our business, including:

  • Zenfolio — used to host and deliver your online photo gallery and for client login access.
  • [Contact form / website provider — e.g. the plugin or service used on the site, to be confirmed with Emergent Software]
  • [Email service provider, if used for newsletters/marketing]
  • [Accounting software provider, e.g. for invoicing]
  • [Payment processor, if bookings/deposits are taken online]

These providers only use your information to deliver services to us and are required to protect it appropriately.

6. Information about other people

If you give us details about someone else — for example your partner, family members, or wedding party — please make sure you have their agreement to share this with us, and that they're aware of this policy.

7. How long we keep your information

We keep enquiry and booking information for 7 years (commonly 6–7 years to cover accounting/legal requirements) after your wedding. Photo galleries are kept on Zenfolio for 12 months. If your enquiry doesn't lead to a booking, we'll keep your details for 12 months in case you get back in touch, then delete them.

8. Cookies and website analytics

[To confirm with Emergent Software: if the rebuilt site uses Google Analytics, social media embeds (Instagram/Facebook/Twitter), or any other tracking cookies, this section needs a cookie table and a cookie consent banner should be added to the site. If the site only uses strictly necessary cookies, that should be stated here instead.]

Current status of the rebuilt site: the site uses only strictly necessary storage — a single item saved in your browser to remember your cookie/privacy choice. There are currently no advertising or analytics cookies, and a consent banner is shown on your first visit.

9. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information
  • Ask us to delete your information, where applicable
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent
  • Ask for your data in a portable format

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@jasonhowardphotography.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you're unhappy with how we've handled your information.

10. Keeping your information secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information, including using reputable third-party platforms (such as Zenfolio) for client galleries and [confirm: secure hosting/SSL on the new site].

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we start using a new tool or service. The "last updated" date at the top will always show when it was last changed.

12. Contact us
